Notre Dame just lucked out with a solid ranking in the first CFP rankings released by the selection committee, coming in at No. 10, just barely making it into the playoff field. The Fighting Irish, however, are still playing with a slim margin for error after two early losses this season.
Now, the Fighting Irish will welcome a pesky Navy team that is 7-1 this season and looking to spoil the fun for Notre Dame. Navy is always a great running team and will run the ball down the throat of this Fighting Irish defense, so defensive coordinator Chris Ash will have to make sure to plug the holes.
Freshman quarterback CJ Carr will also have to be ready to face a very physical Navy defense that will be ready to get after him. The Notre Dame offensive line, which is playing with a new er center in Joe Otting, will need to be ready to protect Carr at all costs.
