Suddenly, Notre Dame fans are very worried about their security in the College Football Playoff after the penultimate rankings release on Tuesday night. The Fighting Irish came in at No. 10, actually dropping a spot from where they have been in the last three rankings.
Many were surprised by this move, as this now puts Notre Dame in serious jeopardy of missing the playoff if the right amount of chaos happens during championship weekend. The other reason it puts the Irish in jeopardy is that Miami came in ranked at No. 12, and the Notre Dame vs. Miami debate has been the talk of the rankings this season.
Now, neither Notre Dame nor Miami plays this weekend, and it seems like there could be no possible way that the committee switches the two teams in the bracket reveal, but CFP chairman Hunter Yurachek is keeping Irish fans on their toes with his statement on that.

While Yurachek was speaking with ESPN's Rece Davis about the final CFP rankings before the bracket reveal, Davis wanted some clarification on the Notre Dame and Miami situation. Before that, Yurachek even said that the Irish have been the center of many conversations when it comes to both Alabama and Miami.
This week, they chose to flip the Irish and the Crimson Tide, and it seems the thought of flipping Notre Dame and Miami is not out of the question. Davis asked if it was possible, adn Yurachek's answer certainly won't put Notre Dame fans at ease.

"Rece, following the championship games, we will re-rank the Top 25 teams, and we will see where they fall," Yurachek said.
Davis then went on the say he felt that means that the Hurricanes still have a chance.
Notre Dame fans will be furious if the committee chooses to put Miami in over the Irish. Yes, Notre Dame lost to Miami, but when comparing losses between the two teams, the Irish lost to two ranked teams, who are now still ranked No. 12 and No. 7, while Miami lost to two teams that are not even in the rankings.
The head-to-head matchup matters, but the committee has also shown they care about who teams lose to, so if they are comparing losses, Notre Dame's are a lot more quality than Miami's.
