Jeremiyah Love may have just solidified his place as the top non-QB in the draft

If there was any doubt that Jeremiyah Love would be the first offensive player not named 'Fernando Mendoza' to be selected in next month's draft, he ended it Saturday.

Love, who was a projected top-ten pick already, ran a blazing 4.36 (unofficial) in the NFL Combine. The time was just a hair better than the 4.37 he ran on the first try.

NFL Network draft guru Daniel Jeremiah had Love as the second-best overall prospect in the draft regardless of position and, in his pre-combine mock draft, he had Love going to the Chiefs at No. 9. While it appears unlikely that Love will drop too far outside the top five, the idea of sharing a backfield with Patrick Mahomes should make any fan of football excited and every other NFL team completely terrified.

Jeremiyah Love turns heads with blazing 40-time

Most pre-combine mock drafts have Love somewhere in the top ten. Mel Kiper also has Love going ninth overall to the Chiefs and has him at No. 2 on his big board. Pete Fornelli of CBS Sports has Love going eighth to the Saints.

But those mocks were done before Love clearly separated himself from the pack as the best offensive skill player in the draft with his efforts at the combine. Love's college credentials were already impressive on their own. He had 2,497 yards and 35 touchdowns in the past two seasons at Notre Dame and won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back. Love was also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, finishing third in the voting.

I would expect that some post-Combine mocks will have Love as high as fourth, going to the Titans and giving quarterback Cam Ward a major weapon on offense. Love could also go seventh to the Commanders and join Jayden Daniels. Wherever he ends up, there's little doubt that Love raised his stock even more with his performance this weekend.
