The Notre Dame football team is set to have one of its most important visits this weekend. When Joey O’Brien comes to South Bend starting on Friday, Marcus Freeman and company will make their biggest and best pitch. The very good news here is that it seems they’ve already made quite the impression, if the elite athlete’s father is any indication.
The Irish are fighting for O’Brien with Penn State, Clemson, and Oregon. However, it feels as if the battle is between the Blue and Gold and the Nittany Lions. As things are set to be decided relatively soon, Freeman appears to have done what he’s best at: Show not only the player why Notre Dame would be a good fit, but also show the player’s family what South Bend has to offer in the long run.
Joey O’Brien visits South Bend as Irish aim to edge Penn State before his June 20 commitment
"As far as Notre Dame, we love those guys,” O’Brien’s father, Joe, recently told Kyle Kelly of On3. “They’re great. We’re looking forward to the official. They’ve been at the top of the list the whole time."

It’s the “top of the list” that should have Notre Dame football fans plenty excited. Granted, the elder O’Brien isn’t giving anything away with those comments. It’s been thought for a while that the Irish are among the favorites.
After all, the 4-star defensive back out of Pennsylvania is giving Notre Dame the final visit before his commitment on June 20. That’s never a bad thing.
It’s not always a sign about where a player to go, but it’s not a bad sign either.
Now the Notre Dame football team just has to ensure that Joey O’Brien’s visit to South Bend is one he can’t forget. Especially as he spends the week after he goes home, considering where he’ll play his college ball.
