Amid head coach hirings and firings that seem to propel the never-ending coaching carousel throughout every college football season, it looks as though the Notre Dame Fighting Irish don't have anything to worry about.
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman clearly loves his job, and he undeniably loves the Fighting Irish. Earlier this week, when discussing his former boss at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly, Freeman only further cemented that he wasn't looking anywhere else.
"You gotta worry about giving your all to this team, and putting this program in a position to have success," Freeman said. "It's a reminder to be grateful for what you have because if you're not grateful for what you have, you'll find a way to lose it."
Freeman went on to say that he wasn't talking about a specific coach, or even about football at all; he was saying something that applied to all of life.
Marcus Freeman reflects on Brian Kelly's firing
The current Notre Dame head coach was, of course, hired by Kelly when the now-former LSU head coach was leading the Fighting Irish. Kelly brought Freeman on as his defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 2021.
When Kelly left for the job with the LSU Tigers, Freeman was promoted to the head coaching role, and the rest has been history.

But in paying respect to his former boss, Freeman offered perspective that goes beyond football.

Freeman talked about how nobody ever wants to see a head coach get fired, no matter how badly fans are calling for it, it's still a human being losing their job.
"You never wanna see anybody lose their job; that person, the coaches, the families, the people affected... the players," Freeman said. "Especially when it's somebody you know and at the end of the day, you're always rooting for."
Over his four-and-a-half-season stint with the Tigers, Kelly led LSU to a 34-14 overall record with zero appearances in the College Football Playoff. Over the same stretch, Freeman has led the Fighting Irish to a 38-12 record and an appearance in last year's National Championship game.
Based on how Freeman was talking about his gratefulness for where he is and the job he has, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish shouldn't put too much worry into the thought of losing their head coach anytime soon.
