Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame football have already won the title if history is true

If history remains true than Marcus Freeman will cross the finish line Monday night and will break one last record, as he will lead this Notre Dame football team to win the National Championship.

Notre Dame football has the chance to claim their first National Championship since 1988, back when Lou Holtz was the head coach.

The Fighting Irish are now led by head coach Marcus Freeman, who has shaped this program completely around and has them going head-to-head with Goliath itself, in Ohio State. The task is big for Marcus Freeman and his Irish, but the luck of the Irish might have a say in this game, and Freeman would join the greats with a National Championship victory.

If history remains true than Marcus Freeman will cross the finish line Monday night and will break one last record, as he will lead this Notre Dame football team to win the National Championship.

Notre Dame football magical number three

Notre Dame has the fourth most National Championships in college football history, as they claim 13 titles. The Fighting Irish have nine championships in the poll era which is the second most in all of college football.

Marcus Freeman is just the 17th head coach in Notre Dame football program history to reach a third season. In this third season, for whatever reason, it has been magical to Notre Dame football. It is like the old saying, “third time’s the charm.”

The magic number three is a glaring factor for Notre Dame coaches as Frank Leahy(1943), Ara Parseghian(1966), Dan Devine(1977) and Lou Holtz(1988) all won their first national championships in their third season as head coach for the blue and Gold. Notably, Knute Rockne had a 9-0 record in his third season(1920), but California was named the National Champion, and Brian Kelley went 12-1 in his third season(2012), but fell short to Alabama in BCS National Championship.

The Irish head coach now has his opportunity to win his first National Championship and once again it is in the magical third year. If history means anything, Freeman and his Irish will prevail and defeat the Ohio State Buckeye's.

Notre Dame football head coach, Marcus Freeman, has built a culture and resurrected this program back to the elite program it once was in just three years as the Irish head coach. He has a 33-9 overall record, 14-5 vs record vs ranked teams, and is currently 5-1 in bowl games.

Freeman has been breaking records all season long, as he has the most wins in a single season for Notre Dame with 14 and has won two New Year Six Bowl games this postseason run, which gave the Irish their first NY6 bowl win since 1994.

The combined record of the seven Notre Dame football head coaches in their third season is 76-4-1. Freeman has his eyes on history, as he would become the fifth Notre Dame football head coach to win the National Championship in the third season.
