It is no wonder that USC wants to back out of a rivalry that has been played over 90 times in the last 100 years. The way the Trojans looked against Notre Dame was heartbreaking for USC fans, but thrilling for Fighting Irish fans.

For one former star USC quarterback, he was practically sickened over how the Trojans looked against Notre Dame. Former Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart was posting on X (formerly known as Twitter) throughout the game and he was not happy with how the Trojans looked on the field.

After the game, Leinart's reaction to how it ended was just priceless for Notre Dame fans as the former USC quarterback called the game 'absolute trash.' That doesn't seem very nice coming from a Heisman winning quarterback and a face of the university.

Leinart didn't even try to take the 'refs were horrible' angle in the end like he did at the beginning of the game. There was nothing that could have been changed with how the refs called the game that could have thenc hanged the outcome of that game.

In the end, and Leinart would probably agree, Notre Dame was simply just the better team. They played the better all the way around and before people want to start talking about injuries that USC had, the Fighting Irish had a lot too.

Notre Dame was playing with a new center, Joe Otting, who had never started a college football game before. It helped that he had a full week of work snapping the ball to quarterback CJ Carr, as well as the second half of the game against NC State, but he was still new to it all. Otting ended up having a great game keeping the defensive line away from Carr and opening up holes for the running backs.

Injuries are a part of football and being able to adapt without certain players is important and Notre Dame figured it out. Ultimately, USC was outmatched on Saturday, and while the Fighting Irish were happy with the result, that game probably didn't help the future of this rivalry.
