One positive of the Notre Dame basketball program missing the postseason is that head coach Micah Shrewsberry has had plenty of time to evaluate his program and decide what type of players he wants. Now that the Transfer Portal is officially open, he can start looking at specific additions.
The bad news about the Fighting Irish is that it's not clear how many resources Shrewsberry has at his disposal. He's also under the gun because his squad has lost its best players. He's got several holes to fill, and it's not clear whether he has the money to fill them.
One thing is clear: no matter what happens, this Transfer Portal period won't be boring for the Notre Dame basketball team. Either it will bring several great players, or it will signal how bad 2026-27 will be. It will definitely be something to watch over the next two weeks.
Notre Dame basketball transfers in
With the Transfer Portal opening on Tuesday morning, there aren't any guys coming into South Bend just yet. However, while the window is open from April 7 to April 21, things could move very quickly.
More than a few players entered the portal with "do not contact" tags, meaning they know where they're going. Keep checking back here for updates on who has transferred to Notre Dame.
Notre Dame basketball transfers out
So many Fighting Irish players have announced their intention to transfer (or have officially entered) that more than a few people have said Micah Shrewsberry has an "exodus" on his hands.
This list will continue to update should any more Notre Dame players enter the transfer portal:
- Cole Certa (SG)
- Markus Burton (PG)
- Jalen Haralson (SF)
- Ryder Frost (SF)
- Garrett Sundra (PF)
- Sir Mohammed (SG)
As of now, the Notre Dame basketball team's roster needs several additions in order to even field a team for next season.
