Four years ago, Shaun Shivers was a running back for the Indiana Hoosiers. One month ago, he was hired by the Florida State Seminoles as their assistant running backs coach.
Now, Shivers is the newest addition to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and head coach Marcus Freeman's staff.
Seemingly out of the blue, Notre Dame announced that Freeman had added Shivers to his program as the Irish's assistant wide receivers coach, just a few weeks after FSU had announced his hiring.
Who is Notre Dame asst-WR coach Shaun Shivers?
During his collegiate career, Shivers spent four years with the Auburn Tigers before joining Indiana in 2022. He earned 1,612 rushing yards for 14 touchdowns, alongside 339 receiving yards for two touchdowns, over five seasons.

He went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, but signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent before playing in the CFL.
Then, he returned to his alma mater, Chaminade-Madonna High School, as the running backs and track coach. He was eventually hired by Eastern Michigan as an offensive assistant before the Seminoles hired him.
Now, he joins Freeman's staff, who is fresh off a 10-2 overall record and a snub from the College Football Playoff.
Shivers will report to Mike Brown, who is Notre Dame's wide receivers coach, and Mike Denbrock, who is the Fighting Irish's John and Bobbie Arlotta Family offensive coordinator and tight ends coach.
This year, the Irish will kick off their season with a home game against the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday, Sept. 6. Kick-off time and the broadcast channel have yet to be announced.
