Notre Dame at Stanford was given the absolute worst kickoff time imaginable

Notre Dame fans at home will need an energy in order to stay up that late.

It is not unusual for teams on the East Coast or in the Eastern Time Zone to play teams on the West Coast in the Pacific Time Zone, but what is really tough is the big time change and how it affects kickoff. Since USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon joined the Big Ten, there have been a lot more of these matchups, and the times of games have gotten even worse.

For Notre Dame, which of course, is not in a conference, they sometimes end up playing teas on the West Coast, just like they are this week. Normally, when Notre Dame is playing a West Coast team, it is USC, but they hosted the Trojans in South Bend this year.

Now, the Fighting Irish get to make the trip out west for a matchup against Stanford, but their game time was officially released, and fans are not going to be happy about it.

Notre Dame gets punished with late West Coast game

This is always the risk teams take when they go and play on the West Coast. No. 9 Notre Dame's matchup against Stanford this weekend is slated for the late shift on the West Coast, which means the even later shift on the East Coast.

Notre Dame and Standfard will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT which means kickoff for Fighting Irish fans at home won't be until 10:30 p.m. EST on ESPN. That is the latest kickoff that Notre Dame has had this season, and it definitely does not work out in the fans' favor.

This means that either fans are going to have to go to sleep and wait to see the score in the morning, or they can get a late cup of coffee or an energy drink to try and stay up for the game.

Luckily, Stanford has struggled this season, so hopefully the Fighting Irish should handle this game early, but the travel out west could affect the team. Nothing is ever guaranteed in football, and Notre Dame still can't afford another loss this season if it wants to make the College Football Playoff.
