There’s little doubt that the Notre Dame basketball team needs to find a way to rebuild for the 2025-26 season. It can’t be another lost season after the first two under Micah Shrewsberry. This time around, the Irish need to find a way to win some games.
The good news here is that Shrewsberry seems to understand that notion. So do the higher ups for Notre Dame and it might have led the program to open up the safe a bit. Reports are circulating around South Bend that the Irish are making progress toward landing one of the top players available in the portal this year.
Notre Dame basketball on verge of landing talented transfer forward
Joe Tipton first reported that the Irish have checked in on Nevada transfer Nick Davidson. Then Jack Soble of On3 reported that not only were they checking in on Davidson, but there is very much some mutual interest from a Mountain West transfer player.
Putting the puzzle pieces together, it certainly seems as though the Notre Dame basketball program might be going all in on landing one of the best that’s available. The question now is just when this might become official and when the forward will take an official visit to South Bend.
Davidson, On3’s No. 17 center in the portal, averaged 15.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 blocks per game this past season with the Wolfpack while shooting 37.1 percent from three-point range.
That size and ability to both score, and score from deep is going to be attractive to alot of programs. Nick Davidson would be a massive piece of the puzzle for the Notre Dame basketball team in 2025.
