Notre Dame basketball hasn’t hit rock bottom yet, but it feels like the team is headed there.
For the second straight game, the Fighting Irish looked like a team that was ready to just have the season be over. And for the second straight game, a member of the team gave a speech in the postgame press conference that stood out because it felt like jobs were very much in trouble.
This time, it wasn’t Micah Shrewsberry. This time it was his son Braeden that gave the speech for the Notre Dame basketball team that appears to be circling the drain. In fact, it feels like we might be getting to a point where everyone inside the program knows that changes are about to be made, even if it also feels like it’s far too early to make the changes that both Shrewsberries have hinted at.
"I just want to apologize to all the former players and fans that are staying with us in our corner. That's on us. That shit will never happen again. I'm sorry about that." - Notre Dame SG Braeden Shrewsberrry pic.twitter.com/2tHeeKY1UW

Notre Dame basketball isn’t at rock bottom, despite Micah Shrewsberry’s comments
“I just want to apologize to all the former players and fans that are staying with us in our corner. That's on us. That s— will never happen again. I'm sorry about that."
While the younger Shrewsberry was apologizing, his father was busy stressing that Wednesday night was in fact, rock bottom.
“This is rock bottom, because it ain’t gonna be like this anymore. I need five guys and all my timeouts. That’s it.”
While that’s a nice platitude, it doesn’t feel like things are about to get better. The Notre Dame basketball is in a bit of a freefall.
