The Fighting Irish's drop in the CFP rankings could set up a rematch that would silence everyone.

To the surprise of many, Notre Dame has fallen to No. 10 in the final College Football Playoff rankings before the bracket reveal on Sunday. This is a huge shock to Fighting Irish fans, as this seriously puts Notre Dame's spot in the playoff in jeopardy. With two more conference champions needing spots in the playoffs, No. 10 is the cutoff spot, and that is where Notre Dame has fallen.

The biggest problem for all of this is the fact that Notre Dame's fate is in the hands of other teams now. If BYU beats Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship, then that would cause the committee to have to put the Cougars in, and with where they are right now, Notre Dame would be out.

However, if all goes to plan and Texas Tech wins the Big 12, Notre Dame could feel a bit more secure about their spot in the playoff. If that is the case, then if the rankings stay pretty much the same as they are right now, the Fighting Irish could have a rematch that could silence every single Notre Dame hater.

Notre Dame's current ranking could set up a rematch with Texas A&M

Right now, looking at the field, if the playoff started this weekend with these current rankings, this is how it would look:

That is right, Notre Dame would travel to College Station and play Texas A&M for the second time this season in what would be a huge rematch for the Irish. Notre Dame lost by just one point against the Aggies in its second game of the season after a missed extra point came back to haunt the Irish.

This would be the time for Notre Dame to show that they truly are the better team. The Irish are playing their best football right now on both sides of the ball. The defense has certainly improved from the beginning of the season, and the offense is even better as well.

Notre Dame could prove they are not only the better team but that they belong in the playoff with a win against Texas A&M.
