The Fighting Irish are already looking to the 2026 football season, especially after the snub from the College Football Playoff. Granted, that doesn't mean the Irish won't have some key position groups that they will have to bring some players into.

One group that Notre Dame really needs to bolster in 2026 will be the wide receiver group. Second leading receiver Malachi Fields is most likely heading to the NFL, and Jordan Faison should be back. However, Faison needs some help catching passes from quarterback CJ Carr.

Notre Dame will have some great wide receivers coming in the recruiting class, but if they want an experienced guy, the transfer portal is the way to go. There are many great receivers in the portal, but one of the top guys, according to Saturday Blitz, is former Michigan State receiver Nick Marsh.

Marsh has a lot of places that could be a great landing spot for him, but it looks like Notre Dame is one of two schools emerging as one of his top landing spots.

Marsh had a solid season with Michigan State, even with a quarterback who struggled to pass the ball on a team that struggled to find wins. In two seasons with the Spartans, Marsh compiled 1,311 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Imagine what Marsh could do with a better-looking offense.

Carr is going to hopefully take a big step forward after his first season as the starter for the Irish, so having a dynamic receiver to throw to could help this Notre Dame offense tremendously. The Irish are losing Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price to the NFL this next season, and being able to have a stronger passing game will be huge.

The transfer portal officially opens on Friday, January 2, and that is when players and coaches can begin having contact with each other, so Marsh will be a player that is closely watched as to where he chooses to go.
