Notre Dame Fighting Irish offensive line commit James Halter took a visit to South Bend this past weekend and as it turns out, all the visit did was hammer home that he made the right decision when he decided to pledge to Marcus Freeman and Co.
The 2027 Pennsylvania offensive lineman arrived on campus Thursday and spent the next few days getting a deeper look at both the football program and the University itself, including head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.
"We met with Coach Freeman, Coach Rudolph, had the State of the Union, just what Notre Dame's about, why it's special," Halter told the Irish Sports Daily. "We learned about the connections and the future of it." The next step is that he'll play through his senior season and then join Marcus Freeman's squad.
Former Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon gets a shot at rookie playing time
No player is ever happy when he gets more playing time because a teammate is injured, but in the NFL, that's often how someone gets their big break. That could very well be the case with Eli Raridon and the New England Patriots.
Raridon was drafted in the third round by Mike Vrabel's squad and considering they already had Hunter Henry and signed Julian Hill as a free agent, it didn't appear that Raridon would get a ton of playing time in 2026. However, Hill suffered a significant injury and it appears the former Irish star has a chance at his big break. Earlier this week, his teammates and coaches, especially Henry, talked Raridon up big time.
“Eli is doing a good job. It’s a lot coming into the league, trying to blend in with older guys, younger guys, the pressure of it, obviously getting drafted,” Henry, now an 11-year vet in the league, said. “I’ve been through it myself, so he’s been a sponge, trying to soak up as much as he can in the room. He’s getting better day by day. I’m excited to continue to work with him.”

- With Oklahoma's College World Series win, the 2025-26 season is officially over, and that means it's time to look at the final standings for the Director's Cup. Notre Dame finished a very respectable 19th in the rankings.
- Despite the incredible hot streak the Irish are on, Marcus Freeman and Co. don't win every single recruiting battle. On Saturday, they officially lost the battle for wide receiver Osani Gayles to Alabama. Granted, Gayles had already cut Notre Dame from his favorites, but he was once considered a heavy lean toward the Golden Domers.
- CJ Carr got plenty of hype this offseason, and he got more on Saturday. Analyst Crissy Froyd named Carr the second-best quarterback in the sport. The eyebrow-raising part of the list is that she ranked John Mateer first. Still, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will absolutely take Carr being ranked that high in any list.
