There's been a lot of discourse over whether the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will get to the playoffs after starting the season 0-2. Count Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt among those who believe they will.

"The committee has assured us, well, I guess they haven't assured the public. They have talked about this somewhat publicly, but I know from conversations with the people that are really in the know, the committee are going to have more metrics, and in particular, not penalize teams for losses to really good opponents. For example, in this scenario that I'm painting, Notre Dame's losses would be the number two Miami and number seven Texas A &M. So their losses are not going to be held against them as much."

Duke basketball extends Jon Scheyer

Just a month to go until the Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team tips off its season, and now it knows that one of its rival coaches is firmly entrenched in his job.

On Thursday, the Duke Blue Devils announced they'd signed head coach Jon Scheyer to a long-term extension that will see him stick with the program until 2031 at least.

Tabbed to succeed the legendary Mike Krzyzewski in 2021, Scheyer has done an impressive job keeping Duke near the top of the sport in his three seasons at the helm. He has won 89 games over those three seasons, leading the Blue Devils to the Elite Eight in 2024 and the Final Four last season. The 89 wins are tied with Brad Stevens and Brad Underwood for the most by any coach in their first three seasons in Division I history.
