When the Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the Texas A&M Aggies for the first time since the 2000 season, one member of the SEC team's program will be playing hurt. Though as it turns out, it looks like this Aggie is putting a brave face on things and not willing to let an injury stand in his way of being on the sidelines.
The Aggies' collie mascot, Reveille X, recently underwent surgery to remove her right eye due to a case of glaucoma. Reveille, also known as the "First Lady of Aggieland," was diagnosed with glaucoma after experiencing discomfort and cloudiness in her right eye, President Mark A. Welsh III said in a message on the school's website. The veterinary team removed the eye out of an abundance of caution after discovering signs of abnormal tissue.
Fortunately, after the surgery, the sweet little mascot was said to be resting comfortably, and she'll likely approach the upcoming season by still attending games, including the one against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with a cute little eyepatch.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish DC prepping for Miami, but not for Carson Beck
While the Notre Dame football team is busy prepping for their season opener against Miami, new defensive coordinator Chris Ash has made it clear he's not doing anything new or different to specifically prep for quarterback Carson Beck.
"In game one, it's about you more than it is about them," the Notre Dame football team's defensive coordinator explained. "It'll be a game of adjustments for us. That's what a game one always is. Our play style and the way we want to play has to show up and we'll adjust as we go through a game."
Notre Dame football commit Ian Premer draw rave reviews
With the number of massive commits the Fighting Irish have reeled in this summer, it's easy to forget just how good some of the standouts are. It's always lovely to hear about someone like Ian Premer, still impressing analysts and scouts the way he is, of On3's Cody Bellaire.
"When you look at tight endsthat have been drafted highly recently, Premers got it," Bellaire said about the Notre Dame football commit. "From a size perspective, he's nearly 6-foot-5, 230 pounds with quality length. I think he's got 33-inch arms, which is great for the tight end position."
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a couple of very good tight end commits in the 2026 class, but Premer could be one of those guys who is far more special than people realize right now.
