Not long after Ohio State announced a record jersey patch deal, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were not going to be left in the dust. Notre Dame’s athletic department announced its own deal, said to be worth about $1 to $3 million more per year.
- “Rooted in a shared commitment to empowering people to realize their ambitions through education, opportunity, and leadership, SoFi and Notre Dame Athletics are collaborating to help the next generation of Notre Dame student-athletes build the foundation for long-term financial success. The new collaboration will establish an annual fund to further Notre Dame’s “4 for Forever” promise, which will support all Notre Dame student-athletes through scholarships, financial education, career development, and exclusive opportunities,” the school announced in a news release.

- There’s plenty of reason to be excited about what the Notre Dame defense offers in 2026. That was underlined again earlier this week when Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and Drayk Bowen were both named among the best returning linebackers this season according to PFF’s ratings.

However, if no team comes calling, he’s ok with that considering he’s begun a very lucrative career off the field. Book recently talked about his post-playing days and made it clear that the one thing he really doesn’t have any interest in doing is coaching, at least not beyond coaching youth leagues and helping kids start down their own football path.
- Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell appeared at Big Ten Media Days and talked about his team’s season opener against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He made it clear that he was not thrilled about his team squaring off against such a good Power 4 team while his conference compatriots were all busy squaring off against bad Group of 5 or FCS schools.
- On3’s Ari Wasserman recently put out his prediction for the 2026 CFP Playoff field, and while he named the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as the No. 1 overall seed, he doesn’t think they’re going very far. In fact, the analyst believes Marcus Freeman’s squad will get knocked out quite early by the Oregon Ducks.
