The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hired Wes Yerty as its director of scouting on Tuesday. He comes to Fighting Irish from Ole Miss, where he was the Rebels’ player personnel coordinator for a little over a year, starting in March of 2025. He becomes the latest addition to a front office that might run under the radar with most ND fans, but he continues to be a high-quality exec who will help the program stay ahead of the crowd.

More Notre Dame Fighting Irish news

  • Jeremiyah Love has a new NIL deal. Now an Arizona Cardinals rookie, there are still plenty of companies that will come calling for his stamp of approval. Love announced the deal online by showing him signing contracts with a Sharpie marker. There's a reason why the running back won't have to touch his NFL salary for a while.
  • On Tuesday, the Associated Press published its 2026 college football preseason All-America team, with three Notre Dame players earning recognition. Junior cornerback Leonard Moore claimed a spot on the first team after winning unanimous All-America honors last year. Junior linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and safety Brauntae Johnson secured second-team honors.
  • Former Notre Dame wide receiver Malachi Fields had a very good first NFL preseason game for the New York Giants. He's also apparently having a very good first camp with the team. So good, in fact, there are more than a few people who think he might start for the Giants opposite Malik Nabers in Week 1.
  • The Irish have a new contender for a wide receiver who could see some serious action this season. Walk-on wideout Matt Jeffery is impressing coaches quite a bit. There are some real rumblings that he could see some serious field time, especially because he can play all three wide receiver positions. Some Notre Dame fans aren't thrilled that he's a walk-on; it's worth pointing out that he's a scholarship player on the Lacrosse team and was the No. 2 lacrosse prospect in the class. He's a great athlete who, like Jordan Faison, is quickly picking up college football.
  • Another Notre Dame Fighting Irish riser is on the opposite side of the ball. Keon Keeley transferred to the Fighting Irish from Alabama over the offseason after not quite showing off his full abilities. However, he's looking like he might finally be unlocked under new ND defensive line coach Charlie Partridge. Keeley has impressed the coaches and could fight for a defensive end position opposite Boubacar Traore.
