Now that we're just a day away from Notre Dame football taking on Miami in the season opener, there's been a lot of talk about how difficult an environment Hard Rock Stadium will be for the Irish. Don't tell defensive back Adon Shuler that. He's of the opinion that the Golden Domers are prepared to play anyone, anywhere.
"It's football at the end of the day," Shuler said while meeting with the media earlier this week. "All the ra-ra stuff, it stops once you get in that 120x53 1/3."
He went on and explained his approach to the game and how he hopes his teammates feel about the Sunday night tilt. "I feel like every game is the Super Bowl," stated Shuler. "It's Notre Dame. Everybody is going to turn on the TV to see Notre Dame play. Like Coach has been saying, 'With tradition comes great responsibility.' We know we have to uphold the standard and make sure we continue to do that."
Make no mistake about it, that doesn't mean that Shuler thinks this is going to be easy. He especially knows squaring off with Miami quarterback Carson Beck will be a test for himself and his defensive backfield mates.
"He's probably one of the most experienced players in the country," Shuler explained. "We just have to use that. That kind of makes us think more about what to do game-plan-wise, just because he's seen a lot of defenses. Credit to him, being in the SEC and playing lots of different ball and lots of different defenses."
Shuler is talking like a leader on the Notre Dame football defense. He's hoping he shows that on the field on Sunday as well.
