Notre Dame has already had one heck of a 2027 recruiting class. Now it looks like Brayden Parks will be one heck of a cherry on the sundae. Expected to announce his school of choice on Thursday, June 23, the 4-star defensive lineman has recently earned a brand-new prediction for the Irish over Oregon that should see the Golden Domers move just a little bit closer to the top class in the entire cycle.
On Sunday evening, Parks announced he would make his long-awaited commitment announcement and was picking between Oregon and Notre Dame. Those two schools have long been locked in a head-to-head after the Chicago-land prospect originally had more than 40 schools hoping to land his services. Just who between the two has long been a kind of push-and-pull, with each program seemingly taking the lead every now and then. However, all the official predictions were heavily weighted on the Fighting Irish.
The deciding blow for Notre Dame appears to be from Rivals analyst Allen Trieu, who boasts a 99% accuracy rate. Trieu entered his official prediction on Monday morning for Marcus Freeman and Co. to land the talented defensive lineman. That prediction joined Greg Smith and Steve Wiltfong, who entered their prognostications back in May. Mike Singer also predicted Parks would pick the Irish, though that one was all the way back in October of 2025.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound 4-star defensive lineman from Brother Rice High School (Chicago, IL), is ranked as the No. 185 player in the 2027 class, the No. 22 player at the defensive lineman position, and the No. 10 player in the state of Illinois according to Rivals Industry Rankings.
Brayden Parks prediction gives Notre Dame football edge over Oregon
It’s not hard to see why Notre Dame would view his commitment on Thursday as a big win for a program that has had some very talented defensive linemen come through South Bend over the years. Parks recorded 61 tackles (including 23 tackles for loss), 7.5 sacks, and an extremely impressive 5 pass breakups as a defensive lineman. He also tallied two forced fumbles and one interception during his 2025 junior season. Beyond the numbers, the big man was also named the CCL/ESCC Blue Defensive Player of the Year while helping Brother Rice win the Illinois Class 7A state championship.
The 247Sports scouting report sees Parks as a “wide, stout-bodied interior defender who makes life challenging for Middle 3 blockers with his rate of movement off the ball.” He also “possesses the rush get-off and skill level to consistently shave edges or pry open rush paths with inside moves.”
All of that is to say that the defender is someone who has dominated offensive lines he’s gone up against to the point where he’s rarely facing a lineman one-on-one.
Should Brayden Parks pick Notre Dame, he’d join one heck of a haul along the defensive line in the 2027 class. The Irish have already earned the commitments of edge rushers Abraham Sesay, Aidan O'Neil, and Jackson Vaughn as well as guys who will likely line up at defensive tackle, David Folorunsho, Richie Flanigan, and Segun Alexander.
