BYU has long been considered one of the most difficult teams on Notre Dame’s schedule this season. It turns out it’s also one of the most anticipated contests on the Cougars’ schedule, if ticket demand is any indication (and it absolutely is).
As of Saturday morning, the Fighting Irish game is the only game on BYU’s home schedule that has already sold out. Utah Tech, Arizona, Iowa State, Arizona State, Baylor, and Cincinnati are all listed as “almost gone.” Still, fans of either team who want to see those contests at LaVell Edwards Stadium firsthand can get tickets for $135 or more per seat. And then there’s the weekend when Marcus Freeman and Co. visit.
With the Notre Dame vs BYU game sold out, sites like Seat Geek are the only way to get tickets. While secondary tickets can sometimes be cheaper than through official channels, they're much more expensive for this contest. In fact, those who want to see the Fighting Irish take on the Cougars for just the 10th time ever in person will have to pay up to nearly $21,000 for a seat.
If that number sounds incredible, keep in mind that the absolute cheapest tickets currently available on SeatGeek are $598, and to secure that, a fan will need to bring a friend. The cheapest singleton ticket is currently $610 per seat.

Those hoping StubHub will find a cheaper option are out of luck. While the most expensive ticket on that site is only $15,000, the least expensive seats are also all just over $600. To really lay this out, if a Notre Dame or BYU fan didn’t snap up their means of entry earlier this spring or summer, they’re now going to have to pay more than five times the sticker price.
While it’s hard to argue that anyone should ever pay thousands of dollars for a ticket to a game like this, it’s clear the October 17 showdown is a premier matchup for both schools as well as the sport in general.
There’s a very decent chance that the winner of the tilt will keep its playoff hopes alive while the loser will be left scrambling to make its case for the postseason. For Notre Dame, it’s one of the only marquee games on a schedule that’s taken quite a bit of criticism. Alongside the Cougars, only SMU and Miami are expected to give the Golden Domers much of a problem in the regular season.
For those with money to burn, they’ll be able to watch Notre Dame and BYU face off for the first time since 2022 when ND won 28-20. The Irish hold a 5-2 advantage in the overall series that is actually a 7-2 edge; however, their 2013 and 2012 wins were vacated along with 19 other games over those two seasons when a former student athletic trainer violated NCAA ethical conduct rules when she committed academic misconduct for two football players and provided six other football players with impermissible academic extra benefits.
