Notre Dame football has a tough game this week. It may in fact, be one of its truly tough games of the season. Or at least it should be.

The Irish are set to do battle with the Navy Midshipmen who enter the weekend undefeated, ranked in the Top 25 and vying for a playoff spot as the G5’s representative. If all of that is making the service academy a bit overconfdent, head coach Brian Newberry isn’t showing it.

Newberry talked about his upcoming game against the Notre Dame football team earlier this week. And it turned out he had some rather glowing things to say about the Irish. Among them was that they don’t really have a weakness and they are basically an NFL team on the college level.

Notre Dame football opponent has a ton of respect for Fighting Irish

“Notre Dame.  You know, it's Notre Dame.  You know, they look like an NFL team.  They're super talented.  Got a ton of respect for Marcus Freeman and his staff there.  Not only are they talented, but they're extremely well- coached.”

“They play hard.  They're fundamentally sound.  You know, what they do on both sides of the football is problematic.  And, listen, we know we're going to have to be at our very best, you know, in all three phases and for all four quarters just to have a shot.  And we're excited about the opportunity.  Obviously a huge challenge and looking forward to it.”

Navy comes in talking like they’re the big underdog, but the fact of the matter is, they’re the only undefeated team in this game. Notre Dame football needs to stay on its toes and make sure it’s ready for a rock fight on Saturday morning.
