Notre Dame football is set to take on Ohio State Monday night for the National Championship and the rivalry that fans have been waiting for was renewed earlier this week
Last season Lou Holtz made an appearance on the Pat McAfee show and picked Notre Dame over Ohio State and took some shots at Ryan Day and Ohio State toughness. Well, Ryan Day used that as motivation for his team and fired back at the 88-year old after the Ohio State 17-14 victory.
“I’d like to know where Lou Holtz is right now,”Day stated. “What he said about our team, I can not believe this is a tough team right here. We are proud to be from Ohio and it has always been Ohio against the World. And it will continue to be Ohio against the World.”
Everyone has been waiting for Lou Holtz National Championship pick and the Notre Dame Hall of Fame coach poked the bear and made his pick for Monday Night with a jab at Ryan Day and his job in a tweet.
Notre Dame football Hall of Fame coach plays villain card
Holtz went on to X and didn't hesitate to throw a jab at Ryan Day and his job as he made his official announcement that he will be in Atlanta for the national Championship.
The tweet makes it safe to say that Lou Holtz and the Ryan Day rivalry has not yet concluded and this headline is a great secondary plot to the National Championship as Monday Night comes closer. Should be interesting to see if Day has any words in his press conference ahead of Monday night.
The Notre Dame football strange bedfellows
Not long after Holz fired his shot at Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes, one of the more famous Michigan Wolverines took to twitter to lend his support.
While Dave Portnoy and Lou Holtz are normally bitter enemies, they both hate OSU. And Portnoy made that clear with four little words.
"Talk to em coach!!!" Portnoy said on X in response to Holtz's comments on Day's job security.
It's not hard to see that Notre Dame football is going to have some serious heavyweights in its corner when they play the Buckeys on Monday night.
