Recruiting is heating up as teams get ready or enter spring practice, and Notre Dame is certainly seeing things go in a positive direction for the 2027 recruiting class. One player that the Fighting Irish have made a very big positive impression on is defensive lineman David Folorunsho.

Folorunsho has quickly become a priority for the Fighting Irish staff. The 4-star defender is a talented riser right in their backyard of Chicago. He's got a ton of power programs coming after him. Despite the high level of interest from others, there are several industry professionals who believe ND is the assumed leader right now.

Chief among those experts is Steve Wiltfong, who entered an official prediction for Notre Dame to land Folorunsho on Monday. While it's unlikely that he'll be pulling the commitment trigger anytime soon, it's a decent look at where Marcus Freeman and Co. stand for the No. 11 player in Illinois and a lineman who is inside the Top 300 for the Rivals Industry Rankings and will keep moving up.

The Irish aren't having success with every target they've pinpointed this season, but they're getting plenty of love from prospects they've worked on over the last few weeks.

The defensive star is planning several visits, including a couple to see Notre Dame up close and personal. Should everything go well in those visits, Freeman and his staff are about to land a very talented and very big defensive lineman to add to its crew.
