Another day, another massive recruiting win for the Notre Dame football team. Yesterday, it was wide receiver Kaydon Finley. On Saturday night, it was 4-star wideout Devin Fitzgerald's turn to commit to the Fighting Irish and continue a Marcus Freeman heater that hasn't been seen before.
Fitzgerald, the son of NFL legend Larry Fitzgerald, was a relatively late target by the Blue and Gold. However, once they entered the race, they made it clear that he was a top target for them. He has previously discussed the communication level from the Notre Dame coaches and made it clear that he feels it is crucial to their plans.
That's why, when Fitzgerald announced he was picking his school on Saturday earlier this week, more than a few recruiting analysts were confident in the prediction he was headed to South Bend.
Notre Dame football adds 4-star WR Devin Fitzgerald to continue July recruiting spree
Notre Dame not only gets a 4-star prospect from Arizona who was pursued by some of the best programs in the country, but they also continue recruiting at a position they've had some issues with in previous classes.
Fitzgerald is not only the 24th commit in the 2026 class but also the fourth wide receiver joining Bubba Frazier, Dylan Faison, and Kaydon Finley. It seems likely that Marcus Freeman and his staff are almost ready to focus on retaining the commitments they already have, rather than pursuing new targets.
At the very least, it seems likely that the Notre Dame football team is officially done recruiting at the wide receiver position and they certainly did a very good job plucking their top targets.
