There's been plenty of talk over the last few days about the possibility of Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman heading to the NFL. The team that will most likely go after the Irish coach is the New York Giants. While some think it's a no-brainer for the franchise, count Golden Tate as one who thinks the head coach would be mistaken to make the move.
The former Irish wide receiver appeared on Up & Adams earlier this week with Kay Adams. She asked him what his thoughts were about the possibility of Freeman making the jump to the NFL, and if it's for the Giants, he thinks it would be a very, very bad idea.
"If I am Marcus Freeman, I say, 'Hell to the no,' and I stay right there," the former Notre Dame wideout said. "Stay right there in South Bend, Indiana."

Why Golden Tate thinks Marcus Freeman should avoid the New York Giants
"You have something amazing. Marcus, and if I'm just... Looking outside in, Marcus, he doesn't have any background in the NFL. He has never, I don't think, he's ever been an intern or done anything in NFL."
Tate - who is also a former New York Giants star - said the big problem with that team being Freeman's first NFL job is it's just such a hard starting point.
"We've had a bunch of guys who haven't been able to figure it out in New York, and now you think the guy who has no experience at all in the NFL, from my understanding, is the option."
Tate then made an impassioned plea to the Notre Dame head coach. "Marcus, please don't leave us. Please don't leave us. We've had enough heartbreak as Notre Dame people already this year with the whole playoff. We can't have you leaving us, too."
