The Notre Dame football team has been making a changes to its staff. Some of those changes have been outside of their control, such as the departures of Chad Bowden and Al Golden.

However, every time the Irish have lost a piece they felt were valuable, they’ve managed to regroup and made the staff even better. On Friday, Marcus Freeman and company did that again with the official addition of a new defensive analyst.

Notre Dame football beefs up staff again

Jevaughn Codlin is officially a part of the Notre Dame football staff, announcing his presence with authority on social media and changing his profile to illustrate his new position. While not a full coaching position, it’s another step for the up and comer who has a new home after losing his job with the rest of the West Virginia staff when head coach Neal Brown was fired.

Codlin’s hiring was reported earlier this week but it is now official and he’ll get to work just weeks ahead of the start of Notre Dame football’s spring practice.

Codlin is still fairly fresh in the coaching space, getting his start in the profession in 2022 at Emporia State at the Division II level before making the move to West Virginia as a grad assistant.

He served as an assistant secondary coach with the Mountaineers and will almost certainly help Mike Mickens with the defensive backs this season. That defensive backfield will get a bit of a shuffle with the exit of players like Benjamin Harrison and the entrance of new defensive coordinator, Chris Ash.

The Notre Dame football team might now finally, be done shuffling its staff. With spring practive right around the corner, it’s time for the players to get used to all the new arrivals such as Jevaughn Codlin.
