As the Notre Dame football team continues to go hard after some of the top prospects in the 2026 class and much to Marcus Freeman’s pleasure, those recruits are also quite interested in the Fighting Irish.

The latest sign of this is the Blue and Gold locking down one of the best tight ends in the class in Ian Premer for an official visit. While ND is still fighting off some very good programs, being one of three visits planned this spring.

Notre Dame football locks down a visit with Ian Premer

There’s still a long way to go, but the Notre Dame football team has checked off the first box. Premer is coming to South Bend on March 21. He’s got two other visits planned for his spring break.

Miami on March 18 will be his first visit of the season. And Michigan on March 22 is the third and final trip he’ll be taking over that week. Certainly it doesn’t give the Irish a ton of time to prove their the best of the best but they’ll have a chance to get the foot in the door.

Ian Premer could continue Notre Dame football as Tight End U

Ian Premer is a consensus 4-star tight end and considered the top player in the state of Kansas. He’s also considered inside the Top 100 players in the 2026 class by every site other than Rivals.

On3 is the highest on the 6-5, 220 pound athlete, ranking him as the 25th best player and third best tight end in the entire cycle.

In 2024, Premer did damage on the ground and through the air. He rushed for 260 yards and 2 TDs while catching 30 passes for 541 yards and 8 touchdowns according to MaxPreps.

The idea is that Ian Premer will visit Miami, Michigan and Notre Dame during their spring practice. After that, he’ll start really cutting down the teams he’s still considering. And once he’s made a Top 5 or Top 6 it will be time to start taking official visits in the summer. The Irish are hoping they make those top teams, but so far, so good.
