There’s been plenty of talk this week about how Notre Dame will better use its wide receiver corps. Many are calling Jaden Greathouse, Jordan Faison, and Micah Gilbert the big three. Earlier this week, Greathouse talked to the media after practice about why he thinks he’s become a receiver that the Fighting Irish can lean on again.

"Yeah, I definitely think my routes have been constantly improving," Greathouse said, adding that he thinks his routes have improved most this year. "Contested catching has always been something that we've been big on, and just trying to stay competitive in the wide receiver room, using everything that we got to push each other to steal things from other people.

“Learning about routes and all those kinds of things,” the Notre Dame veteran added. Coach Brown has been a great help in our development, and we're going to try to keep developing the rest of the season."

While Greathouse has been among the Irish's top receivers in playing time, he hasn’t put up great numbers. That changed against BYU. The veteran pass catcher caught 8 passes for 125 yards. He entered the game against the Cougars with 11 receptions all year.

If the BYU game is a real sign of Greathouse turning things around, it could be the receiver Notre Dame has been waiting on since the 2024 College Football Playoff finally finding his mojo.

After his 2024 CFP performance, expectations for Greathouse in the 2025 season were high. Unfortunately, injuries limited him to just 4 catches for 73 yards.

While Notre Dame has talked a lot about giving more playing time to the bench, Greathouse could become the 1-2 punch with Jordan Faison that the Irish have hoped for since 2023.

It shouldn’t be hard to tell whether wide receivers coach Mike Brown and quarterback CJ Carr have put Greathouse in the circle of trust. Even with a potential blowout against Navy, it shouldn’t take long to figure out if the receiver will continue to grow.
