Is Jaden Greathouse finally fully healthy and becoming the wide receiver Notre Dame has hoped he'd be since 2023? The veteran player certainly had a bounce in his step when he snagged 8 catches for the Fighting Irish against BYU. Even better, his position coach says Greathouse has shown much more confidence lately.
“He's getting that confidence back,” Brown said after practices earlier this week. “He's getting that swagger back, and it's really fun. It's really fun to watch. You just keep encouraging him and keeping him grounded and understanding the work that it took to get back to this point and making sure that he continues to put that work in. I know he will, but him having that confidence and the quarterback having that confidence in him, obviously, it does wonders for us as a team.”
Brown added that he's seen the Notre Dame receiver battle a nagging hamstring injury over the last year. That injury was part of what limited him to just 4 catches in 2025. Greathouse entered fall camp last year after a CFP performance that made it look like he could be in for a monster season. Instead, he had almost no impact at all.
Mike Brown says Jaden Greathouse has regained confidence after Notre Dame football injury struggles
For his part, he's enjoying feeling like he could be stepping into the spotlight, and he's ready to do that while also keeping helping Notre Dame win as the main goal. He explained that the thrill of helping, but also the pain of losing, was definitely there against BYU.
“Just seeing the fruits of your labor and going out there every single day in practice and working as hard as you can for the team,” Greathouse explained. “But then it sucks to not get the win and to not get that team glory at the end. It's just another chip on your shoulder to come out in practice and work that much harder.”
The key moving forward is for Greathouse to stay in the spotlight and remain a dependable target for Notre Dame. If he can do that in the season's final five games, he could end up being like a weapon no one saw coming.
