The Notre Dame football team has one of the best recruiting classes in the country in the 2026 cycle. As the high school season has unfolded, those who have committed to the Irish, like running back Javian Osborne, repeatedly demonstrate just how talented they are.

Osborne has already had a solid senior season for Forney High in Texas, but he put an exclamation point on his campaign on Friday night. He also helped his team explode offensively. Forney (4-2, 1-1 10-6A) overcame a 19-3 first-half deficit, as they racked up nearly 600 yards of total offense.

Of those 600 yards, the Notre Dame commit totaled 307 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground via 31 carries. On the season, Osborne has 993 yards and 12 touchdowns, as well as 6 catches and 88 yards. He's done all of this in just six games.

His senior season has been a continuation of what was a highly productive High school career. Osborne, a powerful, high-volume rusher, tallied 4,522 career rushing yards across his first three varsity seasons at Forney. The Texas District 7-5A D-I Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, Osborne exploded for 2,231 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns in an exceptionally productive sophomore season in 2023. He averaged more than 6.5 yards per carry during his junior campaign, finishing with 1,227 rushing yards and 25 scores last fall.

At the time of his commitment, he chose Notre Dame over some of the best programs in the country in part because he just felt like he had a real connection with the Fighting Irish.

"I've heard a lot of people say it, but you have to go where your heart is," Osborne said. "At the end of the day, all this NIL stuff, that can't help you when it's fourth-and-goal and you have to score. You have to want to be there. I fell in love with the school and the program."

Javian Osborne is a big reason why the Notre Dame football team's 2026 recruiting class is as good as it is. He's demonstrating that to everyone who cares to pay attention on a weekly basis.
