Jeremiyah Love is well known for his ability to run over, around, and through defenders. The Notre Dame running back is also known for having soft hands and the ability to make noise as a receiver out of the backfield. But what does the budding superstar think is a strength that people don't talk enough about? It's his blocking.

Appearing at the NFL Combine earlier this week, Love talked about a ton of different topics, but it was his answer about what he feels is underrated in his game that could make him an even bigger NFL star. "Blocking. I mean, nobody's really beat me in blocking. I've pretty much dominated everybody else. I feel like that's just underrated."

Love isn't wrong about his skills as a blocker either. The Notre Dame star certainly gets more attention with what he does when the ball is in his hand, but he's one of the best players in the 2026 NFL Draft because of what he does when someone else is carrying the rock.

Jeremiyah Love's blocking makes Notre Dame football's star RB a complete NFL prospect

Game films show someone who is especially adept at performing as a lead blocker when it's called upon. Even more important, he's gotten better as his career has progressed.

In 2025, Love posted an 80.2 run block grade according to Pro Football Focus. That's fifth best among running backs this past season. It's even more impressive when you look at the fact that most of the leaderboard is made up of backs that saw much fewer snaps. When talking about running backs who had 400 or more carries, only Middle Tennessee's Jekail Middlebrook graded out higher.

His pass blocking isn't great, grading out at 55.5, but it's certainly not terrible (Middlebrook was 59.8 for comparison's sake). It's something that can continue to improve as blocking becomes more of a focus.

Considering that Jeremiyah Love spent most of his Notre Dame career splitting playing time, his ability to plow the way is even more impressive. He's the real deal, the complete package, and that's why he might go earlier in the NFL Draft than people expect.
