Notre Dame football fans had to wait a week to see what Jeremiyah Love could do in the NFL, but when he did finally start in the Arizona Cardinals' second game of the preseason, he looked like he didn't miss a beat. In fact, once he came into the game against the Las Vegas Raiders, he looked every bit the dominant running back he was in South Bend.
Love was the featured back for the Cardinals in the first half of the game, tallying 11 carries for 58 yards. He also caught 3 passes for 15 yards, showing why he could be such a deadly weapon in his first season in the NFL.
The only negative for the former Notre Dame football star is that he didn't find the end zone in his first preseason game. However, it was clear that, as he did in South Bend, he drove the offense even if he wasn't ultimately the one who scored the points. He also had a couple of impressive runs that reminded onlookers of some of his best action with the Fighting Irish.

His best play of the night was especially reminiscent of his time with Notre Dame as he took the handoff, zipped through the line, and hurdled a defender to get a few extra yards.

With the first half now over, it seems more than likely that Jeremiyah Love's day is over as well. Certainly, the Cardinals aren't going to overuse him in his first-ever NFL game. Finishing his night after the first half will also give fans just enough to want to see more without getting too spoiled.
One noteworthy aspect of his outing on Thursday night was that he looked a bit more like a workhorse than he had with Notre Dame. If there were any worry that so much action might see him sucking wind, it would appear those fears were put to bed as he only looked stronger the more touches he saw against the Raiders.
It's also worth noting that if he is battling for the starting job with Tyler Allgeier, that battle might be far from over. While the latter running back got far fewer carries (4 for 19 yards), his 4.7 yards per carry was plenty good in his first action of the season.
On the other hand, Jeremiyah Love getting almost three times as many carries as Allgeier could indicate that the former Notre Dame star has already made a very strong impression on his Cardinals coaches.
