For now, Notre Dame will no longer play USC after the Trojans backed out of the historic rivalry, hoping they could create an easier path to the College Football Playoff. Just because the on-field rivalry is paused, if not canceled, doesn't mean the two schools have any love lost for one another. Former Fighting Irish star running back Jeremiyah Love demonstrated that again when he appeared on the most recent episode of the St. Brown Podcast. While the 20-minute conversation covered several topics, things heated up the most when Love started talking trash about the Trojans.
It's not hard to see why the podcast veered into a trash-talking session about the Irish and the Trojans in no time at all. After all, the podcast's hosts have a built-in reason to keep the rivalry going.
Equanimeous St. Brown played in South Bend from 2015 to 2017. His co-host and brother, Amon-Ra St. Brown, played for USC from 2018 to 2020.
Add in Jeremiyah Love, who still has all kinds of love for Notre Dame, and trash-talking was almost a given. His words were coarse enough that it stands to reason USC might decide to revive the rivalry, but only if the Arizona Cardinals' rookie is required to return and take part.
Jeremiyah Love gives Notre Dame football the last laugh in USC rivalry trash talk
As the episode moved to the hosts and guest poking fun at one another, Love delivered a piledriver off the top rope to USC.
"Ain't gonna lie to you, bro. SC, they don't wanna play ball no more, bro. Them boys don't be coming to compete. When they play at Notre Dame, they don't play ball."
If that wasn't enough of a gut punch, he kept going and made sure that USC and its fans know without a shadow of a doubt that the former Notre Dame star has zero respect for the way the Trojans played against the Irish.
"They laid down, bro," Love added. "The last two years that I played them, bro, they ain't they ain't been up for the challenge. And and both years we played them, ran all over them."
Amon-Ra did try and fight back a little. He pointed out that neither of the last two years' games were exactly blowouts. However, it's hard to claim that the Trojans really had that much of a shot in either contest. As Love pointed out, even after the host mentioned the margin, he still ran for over 220 yards against USC in 2025.
No longer with Notre Dame, Jeremiyah Love still enjoys going to bat for his former school. He truly feels as though the Trojans dropped the series because they were tired of losing to the Fighting Irish. He has a point, considering how one-sided the rivalry has been over the last few years.
