After the race for Kaden Henderson looked like it was over for Notre Dame a while ago, the Fighting Irish are making a final push, and it might just work. Henderson reportedly plans to travel to South Bend on November 7 to watch Marcus Freeman's team take on the Miami Hurricanes.

By most accounts, Henderson is still considered a strong lean to the Texas A&M Aggies, whom he committed to back in July. However, his abrupt switch from the Irish to the SEC school, after several predictions pointed to ND just days before the announcement, has always seemed a little surprising. Is he finally having second thoughts?

Texas A&M's struggles this season may have pushed Henderson toward Notre Dame. After an upset loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, optimism started swirling about the Irish's chances potentially increasing after a blowout loss to the LSU Tigers, 35-6.

The Aggies are now 4-4 after a 31-20 loss to Alabama, and it's been over a month since they beat an FBS opponent. While things haven't gone perfectly for Notre Dame over the last few weeks, if Henderson watches them beat Miami, he may realize he has a much better chance to play for a perennial playoff contender.

Kaden Henderson gives Notre Dame football late flip opportunity with Miami visit

Henderson is a 5-star linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class. The 6-foot-0½, 225-pound linebacker plays for Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida. Henderson committed to Texas A&M on June 18, 2026, choosing the Aggies over Notre Dame and LSU. However, since that commitment, the Blue Chip defender hasn't been shy about how close the race was between the Irish and the Aggies.

Henderson is ranked as the No. 22 player in the 2027 class, the No. 1 linebacker, and the No. 3 player in the state of Florida according to the latest 247Sports Composite rankings.

As a junior at Jesuit in 2025, Henderson recorded 49 total tackles, including 31 solo tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks in 10 games despite missing significant time due to injury. He also recorded 20 quarterback hurries, 4 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt. He returned his fumble recovery 56 yards for a touchdown. As a sophomore in 2024, Henderson recorded 85 tackles, including 55 solo stops and 10 tackles for loss, along with one interception, 2 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and 4 quarterback hurries.

Through eight games of his 2026 senior season at Jesuit, Henderson has recorded 59 total tackles, including 40 solo tackles and 19 assists, with 14 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. He averages 7.4 tackles per game and has also recorded 6 quarterback hurries, 2 interceptions, 2 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.

Although Henderson's visit to South Bend is good news for Notre Dame, Fighting Irish fans will likely need to be patient, as he probably won't commit this weekend. Most likely, the stud linebacker will return to Texas A&M one more time, and the fight will go all the way to Signing Day in December.
