Notre Dame football cornerback Leonard Moore is one of the best players in the game. Every Fighting Irish fan knows that. What they may not realize is just how good the sophomore really is. For starters, there's never been a better corner since Pro Football Focus started grading such things.

The analysts demonstrated just how good Moore has been over the weekend when they announced that his 88.4 grade in 2024 and 91.8 grade in 2025 were the first time in the "PFF era" where a cornerback had scored an 85+ in his first two seasons.

Moore, who is as good a person off the field as on it, put together his impeccable 2025 campaign despite missing two games due to injury. Despite that, it was clear that even if he was banged up from time to time, teams weren't dumb enough to throw at him very often.

The teams that did found out just how bad an idea it was.

In 2024, Moore racked up 48 tackles, 11 passes defended, and 2 interceptions. Last year, in two fewer games, his tackles went down to 31, as did his passes defended to 7. However, he also tallied 5 interceptions.

In 2026, Moore is expected to continue to grow. He's expected to somehow only get better. It's likely his last in South Bend unless he decides he wants to make sure he gets all four years out of his system.

As PFF put it, Leonard Moore is on a "superstar trajectory," and he's taking Notre Dame with him. Just another reason why it feels like the Irish will win and win big this fall.
