While Notre Dame is sitting at home and preparing for the 2026 season, Miami is busy making an unexpected run in the College Football Playoff. The latest step in that run was a big win over Ohio State that constitutes the biggest upset in CFP history.

Hurricanes fans should be busy celebrating the win over the Buckeyes and getting ready for their next big game. Instead, there were more than a few 'Canes fans who felt the need to bring up the Fighting Irish after Saturday night's victory.

Obviously, part of the reason is that Notre Dame and Miami restarted an old rivalry that has a lot of bad blood this year. There was also plenty of debate over which team deserved to get in. But that debate ended weeks ago. Now, Hurricanes fans are proving the Fighting Irish live in their heads rent-free.

Miami fans can't stop thinking about Notre Dame despite big Ohio State win

One Miami fan claimed that the Irish threw a "pity party" once again demonstrating that a narrative that isn't accurate is winning the day.

Other Miami fans took to social media immediately after beating Ohio State, to dunk on Notre Dame.

It wasn't just the average Hurricanes fan that immediately turned their attention to the Fighting Irish after the big win. Gaby Urrutia is a beat writer for 247Sports.

There were plenty of Miami fans who took shots at Notre Dame over the claims they were the better team.

Even noted pot-stirrer Clay Travis got into the action, focusing on the Irish rather than Miami or Ohio State after Saturday night's game.

Now matter what happens the rest of the Playoff, Notre Dame and Miami will meet again in 2026. The second meeting will neither be in Week 1 nor in Florida. One has to think they'll be looking to shove all these social media posts in the Hurricanes' collective faces.
