Notre Dame football coaches are noticing one backup QB making 'all the throws'

While most of the focus this spring has been on CJ Carr, the backup quarterbacks for the Notre Dame football team have been able to toil in relative anonymity. Head coach Marcus Freeman has even said that the real competition for QB2 won't start until the summer and fall. That doesn't mean that the Irish coaches aren't noticing the work that Noah Grubbs, especially, is putting in.

Recently, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock talked about the stuff that Grubbs has done that's impressed him in the quarterback's first spring practice as a member of the Fighting Irish. Grubbs has been showing off his cannon of an arm in drills and practices.

"Our feeling about Noah from the time we recruited him was he could make all the throws," Denbrock said of Notre Dame's true freshman quarterback, who will compete to be CJ Carr's backup this season.

Mike Denbrock says Notre Dame football freshman Noah Grubbs can make every throw

"He could take field free access and have success there, which we like to do quite a bit. There was never any question in our minds that he had enough hose to do the job."

Grubbs impressed the Irish early in his high school career and only showed why the coaches like him more and more as his career went on. That included one heck of an exclamation point when he led his Lake Mary team to an epic comeback to win the state title.

Grubbs will hopefully not get a chance to repeat those heroics this year as CJ Carr will stay happy and healthy. However, considering the way he's already impressed the Notre Dame coaches, he might get the chance for some South Bend heroics of his own at some point in his career.
