Notre Dame football in extremely rarified air on both offense and defense
The Notre Dame football team is one of the best in the country. That’s evident thanks to its 9-1 record, obviously.
I say obviously, though there are plenty of people who spend every week trying to claim that the Irish are overrated. That’s despite the fact that the defense is right there are one of the best units in college football. Again. The offense is coming around.
PFF demonstrated recently just how good the Notre Dame football team has been this season. On both sides of the ball. In fact, the Irish are one of just four teams that are near the top of that site’s rankings in offense and defense.
Notre Dame football stands out via PFF rankings
According to PFF, there are just four teams that are in the Top 10 as far as graded ratings in offense and defense.
Notre Dame is one. Ohio State is another, Ole Miss is the third and Indiana rounds out the quartet.
It’s no surprise that all four teams are considered pretty good bets to make the playoffs. What is surprising a bit, at least to people who saw Notre Dame football struggle on offense is just how good that unit has been since those first few weeks. Riley Leonard and company have unlocked their identity and being able to hurt teams both through the air and on the ground are where it’s at.
The Notre Dame football team will have an opportunity to show that again vs the Army Black Knights.
