Ex-Notre Dame football quarterback has disasterclass outing with new team

Notre Dame football is likely glad it moved to Riley Leonard when it did considering the game one former signal-caller had on Saturday.

There was a time when Drew Pyne was supposed to be the next big thing for Notre Dame football. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for either side. Eventually Pyne and the Irish went their seperate ways. At the risk of sounding as though I'm dancing on someone's grave, it worked out quite a bit better for Marcus Freeman and company.

The Fighting Irish now have Riley Leonard, who after a rough start to his Notre Dame career looks like he's starting to put it all together. Pyne, meanwhile, is the backup quarterback at Missouri. And while he hasn't seen a ton of playing time in Columbia, he did get his shot on Saturday against Alabama.

It's hard to imagine that shot could have gone much worse for the former Notre Dame football star.

Ex-Notre Dame football star Drew Pyne has masterclass in disasters outing

While the Irish were busy beating up on the Navy Midshipmen, Missouri was geting shut out by Alabama, and things really started to spiral when Pyne entered the game for an injured Brady Cook.

It's not that Cook did well. He completed 7-of-12 passes for just 30 yards. But when he exited, things really started to pille on. Drew Pyne came in and competed just 6-of-12 passes for just 42 yards. But more importantly he threw 0 touchdowns and logged 3 interceptions.

That performance led to the 30-0 loss.

On the year, the former Notre Dame football star has completed 35-of-55 passes for 248 yards, and hasn't thrown a touchdown yet this season. It looks like the Irish definitely got the better end of that deal.
