After a bizarre degree of Transfer Portal quiet, Notre Dame is finally starting to heat up. Quincy Porter's commitment on Monday morning is the second portal win of the day and is a big one for the Fighting Irish's plans for its wide receiver corps in 2026 and beyond.
Porter, a former 5-star prospect who landed with the Ohio State Buckeyes out of high school, is a high-potential player who has a chance to show off his abilities more in South Bend.
As Saturday Blitz's Nicholas Rome pointed out, the addition of Porter to the Notre Dame roster, "can fill the void on the outside left by Malachi Fields graduating to the NFL, and hopefully become a top target for CJ Carr."
Notre Dame lands former Ohio State receiver Quincy Porter
Standing at 6-foot-4, Porter is the kind of target who can go up and get it. With just 4 catches for 59 yards in 2025, Porter went up and got it sparingly for OSU, but the bonus here is that even if he doesn't see the field in 2026, the wideout has four more years of eligibility as he retained his redshirt in Columbus.
Considering Carr still has three years of eligibility himself, there's a chance for the two to form a genuine bond on the Irish offense.
For Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame, the addition of Quincy Porter is the second Transfer Portal win not only of the day, but also since the portal window opened. After several losses for some big targets, the Irish are finally finding some traction and success.
