While the Notre Dame football team’s game against Navy was technically at a neutral site and far away from South Bend, it appears the Irish made themselves at home in more ways than one.
In fact, after their performance against the Navy Midshipmen, they might want to see how they can play more games every year at Metlife Stadium. Some might point out that to do that, they’ll have to ask a couple of NFL teams if it’s ok to share the turf. Some might point out that on the flip side, Notre Dame has made itself a better home in New Jersey than the New York Jets or the New York Giants.
The Notre Dame football team scored 51 points on 7 touchdowns. That number is impressive, especially since the Irish offense hasn’t always been explosive this season. It’s awe-inspiring when you consider ND scored more touchdowns in one afternoon than the Jets and Giants have scored all season. Combined.
Notre Dame football shows up the Jets and Giants both
Even with Aaron Rodgers on the Jets and apparently healthy, neither their offense nor the Giants' offense have been terrific this year. The two teams have combined for 6 touchdowns at home so far this season.
It is especially bad for the Giants. Behind Daniel Jones (for reasons beyond my understanding), the offense has been awful at Metlife Stadium. They’ve scored a grand total of one touchdown on the season, and that TD came in a 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Jets aren’t having a great season either, but they have at least contributed 5 touchdowns.
While those little stats won’t affect how the rest of the season goes, it’s still nice to see that the Notre Dame football team is even showing up NFL teams, especially ones with a future Hall of Famer under center.
