Ex-Notre Dame football star suffers serious injury in Cleveland Browns win
On Sunday during the Baltimore Ravens' battle with the Cleveland Browns, former Notre Dame football linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah tried to tackle Henry. During the violent collision, the defender came away with a rather serious injury.
With 49 seconds left in the third quarter and Cleveland leading 20-17, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson handed the back to Henry on second-and-21 from his own 33-yard line. The bruising back broke through the right side of the line and got up to speed quickly. Owusu-Koramoah stepped into his path and Henry lowered his shoulder and delivered a huge, punishing hit to the Browns linebacker.
Following the hit, the former Notre Dame football star remained down for a while before he was finally carted off the field.
Ex-Notre Dame football star rushed to hospital after injury
After the hit and the initial reaction, it turned that not only was he woozy, but the former Irish defender suffered a neck injury and needed to be rushed to the hospital. While he was taken off the field, the Browns fans showed their support for the linebacker, chanting his nickname as the Browns prepared to help him get off the field.
Some noticed that while things were grim for the player and the team, he was able to move his limbs. That's always a good sign.
At the moment, there are no details known about Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and his status. Of course, that in and of itself could be good news. If something had gone really wrong, that tidbit would have slipped out to the internet by now.
Here's hoping the former Notre Dame football star will be ok and back in action as soon as he wants to return.
