The Notre Dame football team has been marching itself through the playoffs despite the fact that it feels like the list of walking wounded grows exponentially every game. The Irish already entered the Orange Bowl knowing they weren't going to get any help from star defensive tackle Rylie Mills.
They also knew there was a real question just how much the team's explosive running back Jeremiyah Love would be able to play. While he has seen some action, it's clear he's not anywhere near 100% and might instead be more of a misdirect and a way for Jadarian Price and Aneyas Williams to get a blow.
While those injuries were expected and Notre Dame football came into the game knowing they needed to adapt, the Irish just suffered what could be a big loss on the offensive line. Freshman lineman Anthonie Knapp was injured on a quarterback keeper when it looked like Riley Leonard rolled up on his leg while being tackled.
Notre Dame football suffers another massive injury loss
After the play, Knapp exited the game and several shots of the sideline showed him limping badly.
Considering that the offensive line struggled out of the gate in handling Penn State's defensive front, it's not an understatement to say that if Knapp misses mcuh time at all, it will be catastrophic.
The line is already a bit thread bare and beaten up. Losing a starter is a big deal. Especially when Notre Dame football has had problems finding plays that work so far in the contest against Penn State.
