The Notre Dame football team has a big game on deck this Saturday. However, rather than it being a big game because they’re playing a contender for the playoffs, or a ranked opponent, this game is big because the Fighting Irish need to take care of business against a Florida State team that’s seen the bottom fall out of its season.

There was a time when ND vs FSU was a premiere matchup that was going to be a preview of the playoffs. Now, Mike Norvell’s job is in jeopardy and you wonder if the Seminoles will win as many as three games in 2024.

When Notre Dame football goes into Saturday night’s battle, they’re getting a big reinforcement. That’s fantastic news considering the hits it has taken due to injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Earlier this week, head coach Marcus Freeman announced defensive back Tae Johnson is eligible to play against the Seminoles. It would be his first appearance of the season.

Johnson is returning after a preseason foot injury that might have changed his Irish career for the better in the long run. Johnson was recruited to play safety in South Bend. However after waiting to get into a game for 10 weeks, the 6-foot-2, 188-pound freshman finally landed on the depth chart at corner.

Johnson will be backing up another freshman at cornerback who has made his own mark on the season in Leonard Moore. Moore stepped in as a starter for the Notre Dame football team when Benjamin Morrison went down.
