Notre Dame could further strengthen its 2027 defensive line class by landing 4-star prospect Tyler Alexander. The Palm Beach Central (Wellington, Florida) defensive lineman has narrowed his college choices to four. The Fighting Irish are still in contention.
Hayes Fawcett of On3 reports that Alexander's final four are Notre Dame, Colorado, Georgia, and Texas. Although Colorado is the unexpected name, the Buffaloes are currently seen as frontrunners, as Alexander has been impressed by Deion Sanders.
One reason Notre Dame and the other three national powers are trailing Colorado at the moment is that the Buffs are the only team to have secured an official visit so far. Alexander took that visit earlier this month, and while the 4-star defensive lineman is expected to schedule more visits with the Irish, Bulldogs, and Longhorns, it’s not yet clear when those trips will occur.
On that May 15 trip, Alexander came away impressed, calling the trip “phenomenal.” That matters for Deion and his Colorado staff, who know it has to get better up front. The Buffs need more disruption inside, more size, and more players who can make offenses pay for sitting in the pocket too long.

Tyler Alexander gives Notre Dame football another defensive line battle to chase
At 6-foot-3.5 and 315 pounds, Alexander already looks every bit the part of a college interior lineman. But what makes him interesting is how well he moves for that size. He plays with a quick first step and showed it last season, finishing with 46 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. The defender is ranked No. 360 in the 2027 class, No. 40 at his position, and the No. 34 player in the Sunshine State according to the Rivals Industry Ratings.
Alexander has paid one visit to South Bend. He did that in April, just a few weeks ahead of the Colorado trip. He’s also taken three unofficial visits to Florida - hardly a surprise as they’re the home state school still in the running - and two visits to Georgia. He’s also taken one unofficial visit to Texas.
Notre Dame might be trailing the Buffaloes by quite a margin and then Florida in second place, but the Irish have had a ton of success getting the players they consider their top targets this cycle. If Alexander wants to be among the best defensive linemen in the 2027 class, it’s hard to see him ending up anywhere but in South Bend. Now, Marcus Freeman, Chris Ash, Charlie Partridge, and the rest of the staff need to hammer that home for Tyler Alexander.
