After a tough blow from the No. 1 tight end in the Class of 2027, Marcus Freeman is already getting back up and dusting himself off as he looks to land another elite recruit. Five-star EDGE rusher Zyron Forstall has been a highly sought-after guy for many programs, and now Freeman is geting his chance at him.

After predictions to commit to Texas A&M as well as Miami and Ohio State in the mix, Forstall is checking out what Notre Dame has to offer. The five-star recruit has schedule and unofficial visit to South Bend for March 19 through March 21 and is also expected to schedule an official visit in the summertime.

Rated as the No. 3 EDGE rusher in the country and the No. 2 player in the state of Florida, this No. 13 overall prospect, according to 247Sports, is one that Notre Dame could seriously use going forward. With the defense going through some changes over the next few seasons, Chris Ash would love a guy like Forstall on the line, disrupting opposing offenses.

Five-star EDGE rusher Zyron Forstall sets unofficial visit with Notre Dame

"Great education, high-level football. Notre Dame’s been able to have these great seasons back to back," Forstall said about the Irish.

The Louisiana native has also been tied to LSU for some time, but Freeman is planning to come in and make a play for the top defender. Notre Dame has not been in the mix for too long for Forstall, but Freeman knows how to impress recruits.

It is clear, though, that Forstall has seen what Notre Dame has done for the past few seasons under Freeman, and he seems intrigued enough to want to take a visit. This would be a huge win for Freeman if he can land a commitment out of the top 5 EDGE rushers in the 2027 class.
