Things have finally picked up for Notre Dame in the Transfer Portal. After not having a single commitment in the first week of the portal being open, the Irish now have seven players committed. While that may not seem like a lot, they came in one after another this week and have really helped the Irish for their roster next season.

Freeman was able to land two Ohio State wide receivers out of the portal to help the passing game next season. With the addition of receivers Quincy Porter and Mylan Graham, Notre Dame now has the No. 1 overall football team with 35 new players coming in between the transfer portal class and the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

This is a huge change just from a week ago, when it looked like the Irish were really going to struggle with the portal. Freeman did the work early with the recruiting class, and when the Early Signing Period opened, he didn't have a single commit flip. Now he is getting done on the back end with the portal and making sure this team will be ready for the 2026 season.

The Irish were able to land some big names in the portal that should be able to help immediately. One of the biggest grabs was former Alabama EDGE rusher Keon Keeley, who already has Notre Dame roots.

The pickup of Francis Brewu was another big get as both of those guys will help up front, which is what the Irish desperately need defensively. On the back side of the defense, bringing in Jayden Sanders from Michigan and DJ McKinney from Colorado will help Leonard Moore in the secondary.

Notre Dame is picking it up int he portal, which is exactly what other teams didn't want to see.
