Notre Dame football is expected to finish June on a hell of a run, and while they nabbed another commitment on Monday in tight end Preston Fryzel, they aren't done yet. In fact, one of the big prizes Marcus Freeman and his staff are going after is Elijah Golden. And on that front, some signs look like the Fighting Irish might be getting excellent news shortly.
The 4-star defensive tackle recently took a visit to South Bend. He was in town this past weekend, the last visit weekend ahead of a long recruiting dead period. Speaking about that visit, it's clear Golden, who has long been one of the top defenders on the Irish board, liked what he saw and loved what he heard.
Notre Dame football recruiting momentum builds with top defensive tackle target
Speaking to Rivals, Golden said he could definitely see himself spending his college days with the Notre Dame football program. "I definitely feel comfortable at Notre Dame," Golden said. "I can definitely see myself there, being on the team and playing football there."

He also discussed different parts of his visit in more depth, including the dorms on campus and the off-campus housing for players. He seemed to really like that when he discussed it with Irish Sports Daily. He also managed to have more conversations with Freeman.
"He was telling me more about the school like what the school can do for you. He said, 'If you believe it, it will happen.'"
It is worth pointing out that Golden liked his visit clearly, but he's still not totally bought in. He said he's still going to take in his other candidates and give it all a good think. However, there is another reason to think that the Notre Dame football team made a lasting impression. As some of the most thoughtful recruits have mentioned, when it comes to the Fighting Irish, its also about what happens after the playing days.
"I feel like Notre Dame could do a lot on and off the field."
